For 40 years, QCAN has been the sector leader for professional development and training for OSHC services. Our Inservice Training (IST) is a key part of this, bringing training directly to your team, tailored to your specific context. IST supports:

  • Collaborative critical reflection

  • Shared understanding

  • Informed decision-making

  • Whole team accountability

Sessions are delivered live in person or online via Zoom; recordings can be made available, perfect for team members who can't attend live.

All training is developed and facilitated by experienced OSHC professionals across a wide range of topics, organised into five broad focus areas:

Compliance, Safe Operations & Continuous Improvement

These sessions explore different aspects of creating child safe OSHC organisations; from risk management to supervision to inappropriate conduct to the paramountcy consideration.

Understanding Children through Relationships, Behaviour & Wellbeing

This collection of sessions explores contemporary understandings of what drives children's behaviour and how to create environments where all children thrive. Every interaction counts when we understand the neuroscience and how it applies to our everyday work in OSHC.

Cultural Inclusion, Reconciliation & Social Justice

This collection of sessions explores equity and inclusion; where diversity is celebrated and every child sees themselves reflected and valued. Inclusion isn't an add-on—it's the foundation. Do you need some help examining our Australian colonial context, challenging bias and discrimination or facilitating tricky conversations?

These sessions will help you create environments where multiple perspectives are seen as strengths.

Play, Leisure, Programming & Learning

OSHC is not just about supervision but a golden opportunity for rich, play and leisure-based learning that complements or compensates for children’s 21st century lives. Are you looking to design intentional programs that centre around children’s meaningful experiences?

These sessions will help make your service the highlight of children’s days, not just a holding pattern until home time.

This collection of sessions supports staff to lead and make decisions with clarity and confidence, regardless of their role within the team.
