Kelvin Grove Outside School Hours Care - Educational Leader 

 

Kelvin Grove State College OSHC is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate school age care professional to join our team, in the role of Educational Leader.

 

We are a large sized service which is licensed for 170 children. We are operated by the school’s P&C Association. We provide before school, after school, vacation care and care on pupil free days. As a vibrant team of professionals, we provide a happy, stimulating and secure environment in which children can learn and grow according to their needs, interests and abilities. The service is focused on meeting the needs of our families, encouraging input and collaborating with children, parents, staff and the local community to help foster a sense of belonging for all.

 

The Role

We are seeking to fill a vacant Educational Leader role, specializing in the after school care program. This position is permanent part-time, and will be part of a large job share arrangement, working closely with two other Educational Leaders and the Assistant Coordinator (Program and Practice). As such, you will have the opportunity to shape the service program and practice, with the guidance and support of a large management structure. The successful applicant would be willing to step into a Responsible Person role as required. This role would be a great opportunity for a seasoned OSHC Educator to step up into the role or Educational Leader seeking advancement into a specialist position.

 

Selection Criteria and Eligibility

To be successful the role will require the candidates to have:

  • a Diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent qualification

  • demonstrated experience in leading a quality play-based education and care program with a strong pedagogical framework

  • a high level of interpersonal skills, being able to effectively communicate ideas and concepts to develop other’s knowledge

  • the ability to critically assess and evaluate plans and experiences against desired outcomes to drive the practices of the service

  • A high degree of professionalism and the capacity to work with minimal supervision

  • Hold or can obtain a blue card (WWCC), first aid, and emergency anaphylaxis and asthma certification

  • Favorable: prior experience in a management position, with an understanding of the Child Care Subsidy system, Qikkids

Kenmore South State School OSHC - Educator

Outside School Hours Care is looking for a number of enthusiastic Educators to join our dedicated Before and After School Care and Vacation Care team located in the Kenmore area. Our large service is expanding rapidly and interviews will commence Friday 21st February and Thursday 27th February. These are casual roles with the possibility of transitioning to permanent part-time offering up to 25 hours per week. These positions will commence ASAP.

Your Role

You will be responsible for meeting the following key objectives:

  • Actively supervising, interacting and engaging with children.

  • Providing learning opportunities for children through the use of intentional teaching and encouraging spontaneous learning in line with the Framework for School Age Care Children, My Time, Our Place.

  • Contributing to the planning by evaluating children's interactions during play.

  • Greeting families and communicating with children as well as their parents to enhance well- established partnerships between families and the Service, and to develop new partnerships with future families in a highly professional manner.

 

Your Application

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • Current Blue Card and Criminal check are essential 

  • Current First Aid Certificate 004

  • Emergency Management of Asthma & Anaphylaxis Certificates.

  • A positive attitude to support and encourage children and fellow Educators with a creative streak and an energetic, enthusiastic personality, excellent planning, organisational, decision making and problem solving skills with an ability to improvise.

  • A Diploma in Children's Services or a Certificate III in Children's Services or enrolled and working towards completion of a  Certificate III, Diploma or relevant Tertiary Degree relating to childcare or teaching

 

 In Addition the following is desirable though not essential

  • Relevant experience with children and a working knowledge of the National Quality Framework including the 'My Time, Our Place' –Framework for School Age Care in Australia.

  • Familiarity with Qikkids

Wellers Hill School Age Care Service (SACCS) | Seeking Experienced Assistant Coordinator

  

The Wellers Hill State School P&C Association are seeking an experienced Assistant Coordinator to support the management of their 300 place OSHC service which offers before, after and vacation care. The successful applicant will be dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for primary school age children and will oversee all aspects of the services’ management.

 

As a Responsible Person, this role encompasses many responsibilities, including stepping into the day to day operations of the service, administration, human resource support, compliance management including policies and procedures, risk minimisation, quality improvement planning, family and community engagement, computing, management of financial matters within P & C approved budgets, liaising with key stakeholders and effective, regular reporting to the P & C.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Building and maintaining supportive and trusting relationships with children and families

  • Strong business management, accountability, finance and compliance capability

  • Effective leadership, teamwork facilitation, staff management/development and stakeholder engagement

  • Highly skilled in communication, conflict resolution and change management

  • Supporting the Educational Leader, and educators in the oversight of program planning including design, delivery and evaluation.

  • Supporting the Coordinator in the day to day running of the service.

 

Applicants must have a strong knowledge and understanding of the Legislation relating to Education and Care Services, the National Quality Standard and Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

To be successful in this role you must hold:

  • A minimum Diploma of Children’s Services or relevant higher qualification

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role (preferably within a P&C operation)

  • Working with Children Check – Blue Card

  • Senior first aid, CPR, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis training

  • PRODA and probity checks as required for Australian Government

 

Hours/Conditions/Award:

This is a permanent/part time position with 38 hours per week. The majority of hours will be (out of ratio), though the Assistant Coordinator will be required to be present during negotiated operating hours. 

 

Remuneration and Conditions of employment will be as per the Parents and Citizens Associations Award – State 2016.

Educator Responsibilities

  • Educating and caring for primary school aged children

  • Ensuring children are provided learning opportunities to reach their full potential following the program provided by our Educational Leader

  • Developing strong relationships with the school community

  • Ensure a clean and healthy environment for all children (this requires you to do every day cleaning as part of your duties)

  • Perform incidental administrative duties (filling out accident/incident reports when necessary)

Educator Requirements

  • Completed Certificate III or studying towards Diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent qualification

  • Experience in working with primary school aged children

  • Paid Blue Card or willing to obtain

  • Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification or willing to obtain

  • Availability Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00am - 9.00am and 2:30pm - 6:00pm for Before and After School Care and for Vacation Care from Monday to Friday between 7:00am - 6:00pm (Must be available a minimum of 3 afternoons per week)
