Sunnybank Hills State School OSHC

Experienced Educational Leader/Coordinator

Sunnybank Hills State School OSHC operates a large outside school hours care service catering for Before and After School Care, plus Vacation Care.  

An opportunity has become available within our services' Senior Management Team, and we are looking for an:

 

EXPERIENCED OSHC EDUCATIONAL LEADER / COORDINATOR who has a passion for OSHC and the knowledge to lead a large staffing team.

 

The role could involve:

  • working within a management team of qualified professionals including three OSHC Coordinators and an OSHC Manager who are also supported by a strong OSHC Admin team;

  • leading and supporting our team of professional Assistant Coordinators (4) and Lead Educator with their preparation, planning and review of our Before, After and Vacation Care Programs across the year (Educational Leader responsibilities);

  • supporting the service operations as a Responsible Person to ensure the whole program runs seamlessly for all involved; 

  • being a part of the Management team who lead and mentor our large cohort of casual staff that are rostered on to oversee a 470 place service; and

  • sharing in our Quality journey of the NQS, and so much more.

Summary of position

  • be available for set shifts to meet the demands of our busy after school care program - working up to 7.5 hours per day;

  • have support from the OSHC Manager and other Management team members for the overall running of the service;

  • oversee the delivery of our high quality, inclusive and educational programs across three sessions types - Before and After School Care and Vacation Care;

  • oversee assigned areas of the day-to-day operations of the service including administrative tasks and record management for all our service sessions with a main focus on Educational Leader responsibilities;

  • have the skills and knowledge to provide children with safe, secure, welcoming and nurturing environments;

  • have good communication and problem-solving skills to support our families and their needs;

  • experience in supporting children with additional needs and offering a calm outlook for strategies to meet various individual needs across all sessions; 

  • the ability to work collaboratively with our established team of Educators;

  • work in an environment that is supported by the P&C OSHC Committee and School Administrative Staff who assist in providing a professional and high quality OSHC service;

  • Supervision of staff and the ability to positively guide staff in areas of performance and highlight needs for further training where required; and

  • Participate in professional and personal development for yourself as a leader and mentor.

 

Selection Criteria

  • hold a minimum qualification of Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent qualifications as per ACECQA requirements for OSHC;

  • available to work during after school care hours up to 6.15pm (set shifts assigned with flexibility around service operating hours)

  • Hold a Working with Children Check / Positive Blue Card Notice;

  • Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training (or willingness to obtain); 

  • ability to demonstrate your past experiences as an Educational Leader / Coordinator in OSHC or LDC wanting to take your career to the next level or up for a new challenge;

  • Demonstrate a passion and hold relevant experience in working hands on with children from Prep to Grade 6 in an OSHC or equivalent setting, 

  • Working knowledge of My Time Our Place Framework and the National Quality Framework, 

  • Previous experience and interest to lead and support team members in various aspects of the above frameworks including planning, evaluating and reflecting a leisure-based program, along with support and guiding team members to learn and grow in this information; and

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, be enthusiastic, creative and highly motivated, have excellent communication - written and verbal, interpersonal skills, organisational and leadership skills.

 

Suitable applicants will be paid permanent part time / full time in accordance with the Parents and Citizens Association Award, OSHC Stream, September 2025, with above award wages negotiable for the right applicant.  Our service has also been approved for the WRP and applicable rates will apply in accordance with the grant.
