OSHC Assistant Coordinator | Indooroopilly OSHC

Indooroopilly Outside School Hours Care (IOSHC) is a large P & C operated service licensed to care for 285 children. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Coordinator to be in charge of, and responsible for, the effective and efficient operation of nominated areas within the service. The successful applicant will be primarily a contact position responsible for the efficient and effective operation of one of the nominated areas.

The position will also have a non-contact role with administrative and management duties, including being rostered as the responsible person in charge for opens and closes.


Working with a team of educators, the position will require an experienced, professional manager with a strong knowledge and understanding of the complex environment that is a modern outside school hour care operation.
This is a permanent part-time position of 35 hours per week that would be most suited to a person who is seeking a long-term career in outside school hours care.

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Experience working with children preferred

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Experience in a Lead Educator or Assistant Coordinator Position preferred, not necessary

  • Excellent workplace communication skills and a friendly disposition

  • Be able to communicate with children in a caring, compassionate and respectful manner, being attentive and understanding of each child’s individual needs

  • Encourage family involvement in the service through developing positive and respectful relationships

  • Be willing to participate in the Quality Improvement Plan and implementation of our Policies and Procedures

To be successful in this role you must hold or be willing to obtain:

  • Diploma in Children’s Services or relevant comparable qualification

  • Working with Children ‘Suitability Card’

  • Senior First Aid, CPR, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis training

Job Type and Category:

This position is for permanent employment and the remuneration will be as per the Parents & Citizens Associations Award 2016.

  • Be available to work Monday to Friday between the following hours 6:30am – 9:00am and/or 2:00pm to 6:00pm. As well as some day shifts starting from 10am.

  • Vacation Care Hours opening hours are 6:45am to 6:00pm, hours will be offered on a rostered basis working around 7 hours per shift.

OSHC Coordinator – Oakleigh OSHC

The Oakleigh State School P&C Association is seeking a full-time Coordinator to be responsible for the day to day operations of their Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service.

Our OSHC service has been under the operation of the Oakleigh State School P&C since 1990. We are licensed to 105 children and run a Before and After school care program throughout the school terms, as well as Vacation care and public holiday programs throughout the year. We operate from 6:30-9:00am and 2:00-6:00pm Monday to Friday. Our team prides itself on creating a positive, inclusive and proactive environment where children and adults from every race, background and status feel welcomed and supported.

What are we looking for?

The P&C is seeking a person who has sound management skills and ability. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is business orientated and community-minded who has the ability to work autonomously. Applicants must be dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for primary school age children. The ideal candidate will oversee the design and implementation of engaging programs that encourage and support positive outcomes for all children aligned to ‘My Time, Our Place’ Framework for School Age Care.

Our team works collaboratively with one another to ensure the Centre provides a safe and ultimately fun environment for the children in our care. Teamwork is a massive priority to us at Oakleigh OSHC, and as such we are only looking for applicants that are able to work as one inclusive team, whilst still having the skills to maintain order and oversee responsibilities. Our team is comprised of many different individuals, each with their own unique talents, strengths and views.

As one of the declared Nominated Supervisor, this role encompasses many aspects, including the day to day operations of the service, administration, human resource management, compliance management including policies and procedures, risk minimization, quality improvement planning, family and community engagement, management of financial matters within P&C approved budgets, liaising with key stakeholders and effective, regular reporting to the P&C Operations Manager.

Selection criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a Director/Coordinator or equivalent position, with a strong preference for experience operating a large community-owned OSHC service

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and be across all facets of the service.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain supportive and trusting relationships with children and families

  • A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively facilitate teamwork, conflict resolution and support the development of others whilst working cohesively with all Educators and Staff

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee program planning including design, delivery and evaluation

  • Demonstrated ability to drive quality improvement and business outcomes

 

Applicants must have a strong knowledge and understanding of the Legislation relating to Education and Care Services, National Quality Standards and Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

To be successful in this role you must hold:

  • A minimum Diploma of Children’s Services or relevant higher qualification

  • Working with Children Check – Blue Card

  • Senior first aid including CPR, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis training

 

Hours, Conditions & Award:

This is a Full-Time position with 38 hours per week. Remuneration will be as per the Parents and Citizens Associations Award – State 2019.

OSHC Service Leader - Bethania Lutheran OSHC

At Queensland Lutheran Early Childhood Services (QLECS) we are passionate about providing quality education and care within a Christian environment to children attending our Services throughout Queensland.

The Bethania Lutheran Outside School Hours Care Centre runs a before and after school care program and a vacation care program.

The position

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Service Leader to manage this Service as Nominated Supervisor on a full-time basis. 

Duties include:

  • Managing the day to day operational needs of the Service.

  • Coordinating staffing and rostering of staff.

  • Ensuring compliance with legislation and Regulations.

  • Building meaningful relationships with children, families and the school community.

  • Leading, mentoring and guiding your team of Educators.

  • Being aware of duty of care responsibilities and the safety of all children in the Service's care, including people authorised to collect.

  • Planning, preparing and implementing the daily routine and program.

  • Leading and maintaining a professional approach to work, which reflects the Service philosophy, policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of Service Operations.

  • Actively participating in learning and development programmes to support self-learning and professional learning.

  • Working in an atmosphere of Christian service in support of the Lutheran ethos.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will require the following:

  • Coordinator experience in an OSHC setting.

  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills.

  • Diploma in Children’s Services/Outside School Hours Care or equivalent.

  • Current Senior First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificate.

  • Current Blue (working with children) card.

  • Current child protection training.

  • Experience working with children with additional needs.

  • Working knowledge of current Child Care Legislation including the MTOP Framework and the National Quality Laws and Regulations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated sound computing skills including Xplor and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to positively, proactively and regularly engage with staff, children and families.
