 West End State School Outside School Hours Care – Supervisor/Educational Leader  

West End State School P&C Association is seeking an experienced, qualified and motivated Supervisor/Educational Leader to join its growing Outside School Hours Care. The service is licensed for 300 children for its BSC, ASC and VAC. The service offers different programs by children’s age – Prep, Junior, Middle and Senior, which allows the Educational Leader to plan the programs that are suitable for children’s development and interests. 

The P&C is committed to the continued improvement of its Outside School Hours Care. Currently there is over 30 staff within its OSHC team. The Service Manager and two Coordinators are responsible to ensure the smooth running of the service. The Management Team strives to provide a friendly, inclusive and supportive service for children, families and staff.  

The advertised Supervisor/Educational Leader role is a permanent part-time position with a minimum of 30 hours per week from Monday to Friday (scope for the position to develop into a full time role). This is a senior leadership role with a range of duties and responsibilities; therefore, the successful candidate will need to possess a mature outlook and pro-active approach. The main responsibilities of this role include: 

  • supervising the daily running of  routine and activities for different programs; 

  • planning and implementing programs to suit different age groups; 

  • collaborating with other Senior staff to contribute to the service’s Quality Improvement Plan; 

  • being the Responsible Person of the Session; 

  • providing support and mentorship to Educators; and 

  • building relationship and communicating with families. 

This position is suitable for a Senior Educator who has completed relevant study and has leadership experience in child care or a related field. 

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements: 

1.  Qualification and Training:  

  • hold a minimum of Diploma in Children Services or equivalent; 

  • hold a current suitability card (Blue Card); 

  • hold a current First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis and Asthma certificates or wiliness to immediately undertake appropriate training in her/his own expense; and 

  • completed relevant child protection training or wiliness to immediately undertake appropriate training.  

 

2.  Work Experience:  

  • have worked in child care industry for at least 2 years; 

  • have worked as a Senior/Lead Educator for at least 1 year; 

  • have experience in planning programs for school aged children; 

  • have experience and the ability to effectively lead and monitor a team of staff;   

  • have experience communicating and liaising with parents and guardians from diverse cultural backgrounds including families from non-English speaking backgrounds; 

  • have experience interacting and managing children in a large group setting; and 

  • have experience working with children who have special needs and/or challenging behaviours. 

 

3.  Work hours:  

  • able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week (a minimum of 10 hours non-contact time is included for program planning. Depending on experiences, more non-contact hours will be assigned if required to assist with other office duties); 

  • able to work from Monday to Friday during school terms and school holidays; and 

  • able to work a minimum of 2 split shifts when needed (Split shift allowance is included).  

 

4.  Knowledge and Skills:  

  • have an excellent understanding of the National Quality Framework, including My Time Our Place or the Early Years Learning Framework and Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations; 

  • have knowledge about QK Enrolment, Qikkids and CCS would be an advantage; 

  • have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; 

  • have good computer literacy;  

  • be able to pro-actively implement, follow and contribute to the improvement of policy and procedures; and 

  • be a team-player with a ‘can-do’ attitude.

OSHC Educator/Supervisor - Kidszone Marshall Road State School OSHC

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified (minimum Diploma) qualified and highly motivated Supervisor / Educator to join our dynamic team at Marshall Road State School, P&C Association, Outside School Hours Care (Kidszone). We are a P&C run service licensed for 180 places and we run Before and After School Care as well as Vacation Care and Pupil Free days.  Our focus is on providing a safe, happy, respectful play-based learning environment that will nurture children’s agency and learning for life. The position requires the successful applicant to be available to work split shifts 7am-9am and 2.30pm to 6pm Monday to Friday and be available to work Vacation Care and Pupil Free days - possible permanent part time hours.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • assist with the planning and preparation of an Emergent Curriculum

  • interact in a positive and appropriate manner with all children at the service

  • communicate with parents and carers in a professional manner

  • maintain a clean and hygienic environment for the children

  • demonstrate organisational skills

  • be able to work as a team member displaying patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to address any concerns in a constructive and positive manner

  • be a part of creating a culturally safe and inclusive workplace

  • know and work to National Quality Standards

  • be familiar with MYTOP

  • work in a Supervisory role, and be responsible for end of day (lock up - shared)

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification

  • Current Positive Working with children Blue Card

  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (including Anaphylaxis and Asthma)

  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to work as a team

  • The ability to work under pressure and at times be the Supervisor in charge of the service.

OSHC Assistant Coordinator | Indooroopilly OSHC

Indooroopilly Outside School Hours Care (IOSHC) is a large P & C operated service licensed to care for 285 children. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Coordinator to be in charge of, and responsible for, the effective and efficient operation of nominated areas within the service. The successful applicant will be primarily a contact position responsible for the efficient and effective operation of one of the nominated areas.

The position will also have a non-contact role with administrative and management duties, including being rostered as the responsible person in charge for opens and closes.


Working with a team of educators, the position will require an experienced, professional manager with a strong knowledge and understanding of the complex environment that is a modern outside school hour care operation.
This is a permanent part-time position of 35 hours per week that would be most suited to a person who is seeking a long-term career in outside school hours care.

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Experience working with children preferred

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Experience in a Lead Educator or Assistant Coordinator Position preferred, not necessary

  • Excellent workplace communication skills and a friendly disposition

  • Be able to communicate with children in a caring, compassionate and respectful manner, being attentive and understanding of each child’s individual needs

  • Encourage family involvement in the service through developing positive and respectful relationships

  • Be willing to participate in the Quality Improvement Plan and implementation of our Policies and Procedures

To be successful in this role you must hold or be willing to obtain:

  • Diploma in Children’s Services or relevant comparable qualification

Job Type and Category:

This position is for permanent employment and the remuneration will be as per the Parents & Citizens Associations Award 2016.

  • Be available to work Monday to Friday between the following hours 6:30am – 9:00am and/or 2:00pm to 6:00pm. As well as some day shifts starting from 10am.

  • Vacation Care Hours opening hours are 6:45am to 6:00pm, hours will be offered on a rostered basis working around 7 hours per shift.
