Societal attitudes and culture are pivotal to the wellbeing of children. However, this important part of the picture is frequently missed from our discussions regarding children’s behaviour and is not well captured in the research. Adult’s attitudes towards children and their behaviour, influence how children are treated, the priority given to their needs and wellbeing and educator’s responses to children’s behaviour. As Dr Ross Greene says, “your explanation, guides your intervention.”


Understandings of children’s behaviour and “best practice” in behaviour guidance has changed dramatically over the past several decades, the removal of behaviouralist theorists from My Time, Our Place V2.0, emphasies this.
