Introduction to Playwork  

What is playwork and why are so many educators drawn to it? How did it develop? Which theories can I draw on as an educator to further my understanding of play and it’s complexities? What does this mean for all aspects of my curriculum? Where do I need to focus my intentionality?

Join us for an introductory look into Playwork and consider how these theories and approaches could translate into your OSHC setting.

We will ponder this historical approach and spring board into Playwork Theory, specifically:

· Loose Parts

· Affordances

· Play Types

· Play Cycles

· Play Environments

We will also consider the 8 Playwork Principles and how Benefit Risk Assessment fits into this. 

This session targets all educator working in OSHC, from the most experienced to the brand new.
