Focus on Quality Area 4

Quality Area 4 of the NQS focuses on the provision of qualified and experienced educators who develop warm, respectful relationships with children, create predictable environments and encourage children’s active engagement in the learning program.  A collaborative and ethical culture where professional standards guide all aspects of practice is critical to a quality service.

This session will explore the two standards and 5 elements underpinning Quality Area 4 which speak to staffing arrangements enhancing children’s learning and developing through the organisation and continuity of educators and management, educators and staff working in ways that are collaborative, respectful and ethical.  Within this professional standards and strength based approaches collaboration are core elements of quality.

Further to this, participants will have the opportunity to consider the three exceeding themes of the National Quality Standard and how services may articulate practice for each standard in respect of meaningful engagement with families and/or communities; critical reflection; and embedded practice.
