How many of us remember the joy we felt when we sculpted elaborate worlds in the sand using our whole bodies or brewed elaborate teas out of what ever bits of flora we could get our hands on or squelched heavy footed about in mud up to our knees or danced chin raised to the sky in the rain or countless other examples of "being" in nature that have inprinted so deeply in our memories? With the time pressures of today and concerns for children’s safety, spending time connecting with nature has become an endangered past time; something we need to plan and supervise carefully if it is to happen. But despite the well documented benfits of connecting with nature, many OSHC services are not making the effort.
