About the Event

OSHC Professional Standards for Management and Leadership

Facilitated by Kylie Brannelly

The new OSHC Professional Standards for Management and Leadership are a public statement of what constitutes a Manager and Leaders quality. They define the work of Service Managers and Leaders and make explicit the elements of high-quality, effective management and leadership practice. There are seven standards across the domains of professional knowledge, practice and engagement. These are:

1. Understand adult learning methods and principles for knowledge and skill acquisition

2. Understand leadership

3. Team management and leadership

4. Business operations and management

5. Accountability and ethics

6. Performance improvement

7. Community and stakeholder engagement

Each standard has areas of focus which are described across three career stages: Emerging, Proficient and Lead.

In this session participants will:

• Explore the Professional Standards for Management and Leadership

• Unpack case studies describing practice for each of the 7 standards

• Undertake self-assessment for meaningful and relevant performance improvement

• Develop strategies and opportunities for progression through the three career stages identified

• Participate in a professional learning community through a community of practice framework
