Boundaries are an essential part of positive behaviour guidance. When boundaries are clear, consistent, fair and reasonable, they help create predictable environments where children can feel safe, secure and supported.
Effective boundary setting is not about controlling children or demanding compliance. Boundaries should be understood, developmentally appropriate and, wherever possible, developed collaboratively with children. Importantly, children also need the skills, relationships and support to successfully meet the expectations we set.
