Regulatory Authority Priority Series - Food Safety in OSHC
Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell
The Queensland Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (ECRA) is responsible for regulating the early childhood education and care sector including outside school hours care. They have a vital role in making sure children are safe and receive high-quality education and care. This series spotlights the new priority areas they announced in late 2023.
This session will focus on Health and hygiene, more specifically food safety.
Educators must ensure adequate health, hygiene and food safety practices for handling, preparing and storing food at the service at all times. This session reflects contemporary research and understanding that will allow educators to:
- explore the legislative requirements around food and hygiene in Qld OSHC
- develop an appreciation of the nature of food and how to ensure it’s safety in OSHC
- discuss suitable and varied strategies to ensure health and hygiene including food that is bought from home and consumed in OSHC
- discuss the various curriculum implications this has for educators and children
This session is suited to OSHC professionals at all career stages.
