About the Event

Please join us for the launch of a new reconciliation initiative at QCAN: our very own virtual book club! The QCAN Reconciliation Book Club is open to all staff from QCAN member services, and will meet online once per term.

Our book this term is “Dark Emu” by Bruce Pascoe.

"Dark Emu argues for a reconsideration of the 'hunter-gatherer' tag for pre-colonial Aboriginal Australians and attempts to rebut the colonial myths that have worked to justify dispossession. Accomplished author Bruce Pascoe provides compelling evidence from the diaries of early explorers that suggests that systems of food production and land management have been blatantly understated in modern retellings of early Aboriginal history, and that a new look at Australia's past is required." - Magabala Books

We understand all too well that life (and OSHC!) happens, so please don’t be discouraged if you’re unable to finish the book by this date; all…

The Queensland Children’s Activities Network acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia, and recognise their continuing connection to culture, land, waterways and communities. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
