OSHC Environments

The OSHC environment is more than where a service operates. It plays a significant role in determining the quality of the service and the behaviour of its stakeholders. This session explores the environment, as not just the third teacher but a place of belonging. It also reflects on the challenges faced by services in setting up comfortable, well equipped spaces, appropriate to the program and the needs and interests of the children, educators and families, and how these challenges can be overcome. We will consider the role of the School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale (SACER) and principles of design that will have your stakeholders ‘bursting’ to come in each day.
