About the Event

Older Children in Outside School Hours Care

Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell

Are the older children stressing you out? Are you struggling to connect and engage with them?

Recent research for the Productivity Commission highlighted that educators need to have knowledge and strategies to support the wellbeing, learning and development of multi-age groups of children. Particularly focusing on the needs of older children and young people who may be a member of the OSHC services community at a particular site for a period of up to seven years.

MTOP V2.0 has seen the powerful addition of ‘young people’ to the Australian Framework for School Aged Care – hundreds of times in fact! This is an important reflection of how older children in OSHC see themselves, distinct in identity from the younger children cohort.
