About the Event

From 'What We Do' to 'Why We Do It': Demystifying Theory in OSHC – Webinar Wednesday

Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell

In an ideal world, OSHC programs in Australia are shaped by educators who are intentional and deliberate. Not only are their practices embedded, they know why the practice is in place which is informed by a range of theories that influence their everyday work with children, families and each other. The revised Framework for School Age Care - MTOP V2.0 identifies that the work of educators may be enhanced by intentionally drawing on several perspectives.

This session will examine each of these and give examples of how they inform best practice in OSHC in Australia. The theories covered will include:

  • socio-cultural and ecological theories

  • developmental theories
