Focus on Practice series: Evaluations for Wellbeing and Learning
Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell
Educators are practitioners whose primary function in Australian school age care settings is to plan and implement programs that support children’s wellbeing, development and learning. In order to do this they must gather contextual knowledge about children’s wellbeing and learning as they reflect and engage in their everyday work. Processes such as scanning, monitoring, gathering and analysing information about how children feel and what children know, can do and understand is a vital part of the ongoing cycle that includes planning, documenting and evaluating children’s wellbeing, development and learning.
This webinar is part of our focus on practice series – allowing educators to reflect on important aspects of their pedagogical practice, as articulated in MTOP. It will support educators to consider why evaluations for wellbeing and development are so important and how they can embed necessary processes into their daily work habits. Educators will have an opportunity to increase their understanding of:
• Their regulatory requirements – including traditional and innovative ways to meet them
• The importance of contextual knowledge categorized as information, evidence and understanding
• The power of reflective questions, generative listening and genuine collaboration
• Their role in planning, implementing and capturing the Program
