About the Event
Programming for Protective Behaviours in OSHC
In the lead up to National Child Protection Week in September we will examine the role OSHC has in keeping children safe. Our play and leisure based curriculum offers the perfect opportunity to develop protective behaviours; personal safety skills that can be used by children, young people and adults to keep them safe and work towards reducing violence and abuse in the community.
In this session we will explore:
- National Child Protection Week - September
- What are protective behaviours?
- Why are these important?
- Useful resources for OSHC
- Organisations that can assist in this important work
Join us as we explore various rules of personal safety, including body safety rules, the power of consent and the importance of not keeping secrets. In doing this we will highlight various organisations and resources that can support you in this important work of embedding protective behaviours across all aspects of the program in a way that is right for your children, families and community.
This session is suited to OSHC professionals at all career stages.
