Webinar Wednesday -  Professional Boundaries To Promote Child Safety

Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell

Professional Boundaries are the lines that professionals draw between professional and personal or social relationships. They help to differentiate between actions that are professionally appropriate and those that are inappropriate. In OSHC they acknowledge that the relationship between educators and children and young people, is not one of equals – educators hold the power. Professional boundaries help to ensure that educators use their power fairly and safely, without compromising the wellbeing of children and young people, or their families.

The examples outlined in this session will assist educators in establishing and maintaining the expected boundaries in OSHC that help to safeguard children. They will focus on the:

- The Zone of Helpfulness (Kemp, 2014)

- Communication
