About the Event

Understanding Play – The importance of Play, Play-Based Learning, Play Types & Play Theory

Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell

Play… it’s our bread and butter in OSHC, a profession that has long understood the important role play has in children’s holistic learning. Through play, children develop a sense of identity and an understanding of their social and cultural worlds. In fact, it is so important that it features in the United Nation Convention on the Right’s of the Child. How much time have we spent reflecting on opportunities to play in our service? Do we understand the different play types and play theory? Do we have the language to advocate for children’s right to play and explain the learning that occurs in OSHC?

During this webinar you will gain a wealth of information on:

- Play-Based Learning

- Play Types & Theory

- Valuing Child-directed and initiated experiences

- Environments and Resources that support play

- Educators’ role in play
