About the Event

The Third Teacher - Reconsidering Environments - Webinar Wednesday

Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell

The OSHC environment is more than where a service operates, in fact it is considered the Third Teacher integral to the OSHC experience. MTOP V2.0 reminds us of the many facets of SAC environments including physical, temporal, intellectual, social and emotional. They play a significant role in determining the quality of the service and heavily influence children’s behaviour and wellbeing. But OSHC spaces are frequently chosen for their availability not suitability. Often services and educators lack the funds, flexibility or expertise necessary to make the learning environment appropriate to their needs. Improvements, even cosmetic ones, can seem overwhelming.

The aim of this session is to reframe your OSHC spaces as places. Places of play, leisure, wellbeing, learning and development. Places for belonging, being and becoming. Places that invite participation, engagement and initiative and supports constructive relationships between children…
