Supporting Prep Children with their Transition to OSHC

Transitioning to primary school from long day care, kindergarten or care in the home is a big step for prep children and their families. For many children, this step will also include attending outside school hours care (OSHC). OSHC educators are no strangers to transitions, managing dozens throughout just one session of care (school bell to sign-in, afternoon tea to playground, OSHC to extra-curriculars). Much like these familiar daily transitions, milestone transitions require ongoing planning, collaboration and critical reflection.

This session will explore:

• Important considerations when welcoming our youngest school age children to OSHC
• A proactive timeline of support opportunities (before enrolment paperwork, all the way to year one!)
• Collaborative learning
• Collaborative partnerships

This session is suited to OSHC professionals  at all career stages.
