Supporting Educator's Wellbeing by Building Emotional Intelligence - Webinar Wednesday
Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell
In our important work as school age care professionals, challenges arise that may impact upon our mental health and wellbeing. While we can’t eliminate these completely, it is important that organisations plan and work to overcome potential risks to educators and bolster their holistic wellbeing. Building emotional intelligence can be a powerful strategy to do this.
Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand, use and manage your emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict. Daniel Goleman, who popularise the term, suggested it was just as important as IQ in determining success.
This session will draw on resources developed by the Queensland Government, the Yale Centre for Emotional Intelligence RULER for use in Out-of-School Time, and recently developed technologies created by scientists, designers, engineers, and therapists to help people better understand their emotions and find strategies to help them navigate their emotions in the moment.
This session is suited to OSHC professionals at all career stages.
