About the Event

Lundy's Model of Participation

Facilitated by Emily McKenna

My Time, Our Place V2.0 highlights the importance of educators exploring diverse perspectives, theories and knowledge to guide practice in the school age care context.

“Drawing on a range of perspectives and theories can challenge ways of seeing children and young people, facilitating learning, and encouraging educators, as individuals and with colleagues, to investigate why they act in the ways that they do and consider the voices of children and young people, their families and their communities in their decision-making". (MTOP V2.0).

This session will introduce Lundy’s Model of Participation, a conceptual framework for understanding and bringing to life children’s right to participation. Lundy’s Model is a valuable conceptualisation of Article 12 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of the Child, which focuses on children's right to express their views and have them given due weight.
