Planning, Implementing and Evaluating Experiences | Cycle of Planning Part 2 - Implement and Evaluate
Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell
The role of an Educator during activities can shift and change depending on who is playing, the type of play and other factors. Whilst a lot of play is directed by children, there are still important roles for adults to play.
Reflecting “in action” is an important part of adapting experiences to meet the needs of all children and being flexible and responsive to taking activities in a different direction. When we understand play pedagogy, educators follow children’s lead, understanding what their actions, emotions and words are communicating about what they require in terms of interactions, experiences, and environments.
During this workshop we will unpack the second half of the planning cycle looking at:
Implementing:
- Looking Inwards: understanding how our practice is influencing the activity
- Looking outwards: Learning from what is happening during the activity and challenging our own thinking or expectations
- Looking forwards: exploring what future learning might look like and planning how to get there.
- Addressing implementation difficulties
Evaluating:
- How do we use information from a range of perspectives including – children, educator family and our own observations?
