Middle Childhood Development

My Time, Our Place requires educators to use holistic approaches when focusing on children’s development. Whilst all children are unique individuals with many differences there are also similarities and observable benchmarks for children’s growth and development that educators need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of. Such awareness enables educators to respond to children appropriately by recognising that particular behaviours, abilities and interests are typical to children’s development. 

This session will explore a child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual aspects of development, and how these can be enhanced by their OSHC experience, including appropriate strategies and resources educators can consider to promote children’s holistic development and learning through play and leisure.
