About the Event

Meeting Sensory Needs - Tools for Sensory Informed OSHC Environments  - Online Workshop

Facilitated by Emily McKenna

Are you seeing challenging behaviours in your OSHC that have you stumped? Contemporary understanding of neuroscience, SEL and trauma informed approaches (as detailed in the NOSHSA OSHC Inclusion Project) have helped better guide educators to support children with their emotional regulation.

But what about their sensory regulation?  How does that impact their behaviour? Did you know the way we process our 8 (yes 8!) senses has a direct impact on our emotions, attention and learning? This is why it’s important to understand how the children and young people in our programs process sensory information and what we can do to meet their sensory needs. Spoiler – it’s not all dim lights, noise cancelling headphones and scent diffusers…

This session will support participants to;

  • Understand sensory processing and its role in OSHC
