Family Partnerships

In OSHC, we know that learning is lifelong and occurs in multiple settings. Building nurturing, respectful partnerships with families is an essential part of supporting children. Partnerships with families’ need committed and collaborative practices that foster community and identity. This workshop will unpack how to create partnerships that are responsive to children’s and family’s needs, are built on mutual trust and collaboration and based on a clear understanding of the OSHC role. You’ll hear from services who have embedded meaningful approaches to engaging with parents and even some parents sharing their experience and understanding of this partnership.
This session will cover:
- Why partnerships are important
- The many different ways partnerships may look
- Parents understanding of OSHC and the collaborative partnership
- Practical strategies for building partnerships
- How to respond when partnerships break down
This session is suited to OSHC professionals at all career stages.
