Many definitions of place-based pedagogy exist, with My Time Our Place V2.0 defining the concept as “an understanding that educator knowledge of the setting or context will influence how educators plan and practice.” At its core, place-based pedagogy refers to supporting learning about the place that you’re standing upon and those who inhabit it. Given the emphasis on identity, belonging and community within school age care, many OSHC professionals are likely already engaging in place-based pedagogies each day!
