About the Event

Webinar Wednesday - Child Safe Standards: Creating Safer Spaces for Children

Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell

Following the Royal Commission’s (Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse) recommendations all Australian states and territories are working towards implementing consistent national child safe principles that create child safe organisations. To achieve this Queensland is implementing their Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme; both due to come into effect in OSHC in 2026.

The Queensland Child Safe Standards are designed to help organisations — especially those working with children — create safe, supportive, and protective environments. They aim to prevent child abuse and neglect, and ensure that children's rights, voices, and wellbeing are always prioritised. The child safe standards help foster proactive, preventive practices rather than reactive responses.

In this webinar we will consider:

  • the role of the Queensland Family and Child Commission
