About the Event

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Responsiveness in OSHC

Facilitated by Lainey Walker

Educators who are culturally responsive respect multiple cultural ways of knowing, doing and being, and celebrate the benefits of diversity. They honour differences and take action in the face of unfairness or discrimination.

The recent update to the Approved Learning Framework for School Age Care in Australia, My Time, Our Place V2.0, saw practice shift from cultural competence to cultural responsiveness. This session will explore:

  • Cultural competence as a foundation for responsiveness
  • Frameworks for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural responsiveness in OSHC
  • What it means to be a culturally responsive educator
  • The importance of critical reflection in developing culturally responsive practice

This session is suited to OSHC professionals at all career stages.
