MTOP V2.0: Unpacking Relational Pedagogies - Webinar Wednesday
Facilitated by Emily McKenna
With the addition of relational pedagogies into MTOP V2.0 and the strong focus on relationships in NOSHSA’s Embedding Inclusive Practice resources, it seems timely to revisit the significance of relationships in child development. Not only the crucial role they play in physical and emotional health and development, but the more long-term impact on mental health and wellbeing. Meaningful relationships are fundamental to learning. A recent article (Cliffe & Solvason, 2022) argues that “Children’s relational worlds have been challenged by the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, social isolation and safety measures”. Join us as we consider the “why” and “how” of relational pedagogy. Throughout the session we’ll consider:
- Why do relationships matter?
- How do we create a sense of belonging for children?
- How do we create safe spaces needed for authenticity, vulnerability and trust?
- Why is a sense of community so important?
- How do we respond to equity issues in relationship building?
This session is suited to OSHC professionals at all career stages.
