About the Event

Exploring Pedagogies and Pedagogical documentation for School Age Care

Facilitated by Kylie Brannelly

The term pedagogy refers to the holistic nature of educators’ professional practice (especially those aspects that involving building and nurturing relationships), program decision-making, teaching and learning.  (MTOP:7) Pedagogy is the discipline that deals with the theory and practice of teaching and how these influence student learning. In this way, theory, professional knowledge, understandings of children and their needs, their backgrounds and interests inform the actions of educators, their teaching strategies as well as their curriculum decisions and judgments. Pedagogy includes how the educator interacts with children and the learning environment the educator seeks to establish.  In this session, Educators will learn about appropriate and relevant pedagogies for school age care as well as learning how to create meaningful pedagogical documentation.
