About the Event

Regulatory Authority Priority Series - Mentoring the Educator Team

Facilitated by Lainey Walker

The Queensland Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (ECRA) is responsible for regulating the early childhood education and care sector including outside school hours care. They have a vital role in making sure children are safe and receive high-quality education and care. This series spotlights the new priority areas they announced in late 2023.

This session will focus on Support for educational leadership.

The Educational Leader has an important and influential role in inspiring and motivating the educator team and extending individual educators’ practice. However, supporting educators’ pedagogy can be challenging; the word alone can puzzle a seasoned educator.

In this session we will explore:

  • The role of Educational Leader in supporting the professional development of their team
  • Mentoring vs coaching – what is the difference, and what processes need to be established?
  • Empowering educators to explore pedagogy through mentorship
  • Fostering collaboration and engagement
  • Advocating for educational leadership and the educational program
  • Establishing communities of practice

Drawing upon The Educational Leader Resource (ACECQA, 2019) this session unpacks strategies for Educational Leaders to empower educators and improve educational practice across the service. This session also provides a valuable opportunity to explore and experience communities of practice. Join us in collaborative conversation with fellow OSHC Educational Leaders, as we enhance our collective understanding of best practice in this important work.

This session is best suited to established Educational Leaders who are eager to explore “what’s next?” and discover what else is possible within this dynamic role.

This session is suited to OSHC professionals at proficient and lead career stages.
