To support Outside School Hours Care Service professionals to provide safe, caring and interesting OSHC services through the provision of quality training, advice and resources. Environments which encourage the development of rewarding relationships with others as well as to provide avenues for the children to express their interests are important factors within OSHC. QCAN advocates for quality practices and service for the benefit of the children who attend and their families.
The Queensland Children’s Activities Network (QCAN) is the peak body for the outside school hours care (OSHC) sector and is a Not For Profit Organisation. As a statewide organisation, QCAN promotes, supports and advocates for OSHC staff, children, families, committees and the broader community.
Through the effective use of staff and physical resources, QCAN has managed to increase infrastructure capacity and provide our members with many benefits including:
QCAN continues to strive to expand and improve our services in line with the increased demand for quality child-care placements. A recent National Childcare Accreditation Council study confirms that the OHSC sector population is rising.
